This year’s La Cienega Design Quarter Legends event, now in its fifth year, kicked off with the pop of champagne corks as the interior design community’s top talent mingled at the gala’s opening event on Wednesday.

The gala was held at antiques dealer Therien on La Cienega and was the start to two days of panels, book signings, open houses andlectures all along La Cienega's design quarter between Beverly and Santa Monica Boulevards. This year’s theme, Time Capsule: The Past, Present and Future of Design, covers old Hollywood to new building construction and celebrates, among others, the famed late designers Tony Duquette and Angelo Donghia.

Le Petit Soiree fed the crowd of over 400, which included such design names as: Thom Filicia; Timothy Corrigan; (who designed a vignette, which includes a pair of overturned Louboutin shoes for the store's front window), Annie Kelly and her husband, photographer Tim Street-Porter; Jane Hallworth; Cliff Fong; Kelly Wearstler; Jeff Andrews; and actress Julie Bowen and and her designer sister Molly Leutkemeyer. They circulated throughout the store’s labyrinth of rooms filled with exquisite antique furniture. Among the other guests were Patrick Dragonette, Natasha Baradaran, Joe Lucas, Windsor Smith and Nathan Turner.

"There are some really interesting topics being discussed this week, as well as some nice opportunities to catch up with the visiting design community and the good friends who work locally," Fong, who's designed houses for Ryan Murphy and Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, told THR.

The "walk of windows," the design community's spring equivalent of the holiday windows on New York’s Fifth Avenue, will be up for two weeks, May 6 to 20, and consist of 46 windows conceived by top designers.

Andrews described his window as a portal into a 1960s vision of the future. "It is comprised of a black and white spiral canvas in the artist’s signature style, Arturo Pani Modernist fiberglass chairs, and an upside-down concave mirror meant to signify the disorienting effect of time travel; a glimpse of the future inspired by the past," he said.

Wednesday’s gala was sponsored by 1stdibs and Coldwell Banker Previews International. Thursday's events include a keynote with Luxe Interiors + Design’s Pam Jaccarino and a power lunch with Elle Décor editor-in-chief Michael Boodro. Traditional Home's Anne Maine will also be holding a keynote with panelists Filicia, Luetkemeyer and Oliver M. Furth. Friday's lineup includes a keynote with Peter Sallick, co-founder of Dering Hall and CEO of Waterworks with panelists Jane Hallworth and Tim Clarke. That day also features a book signing with Wearstler.

VIP two-day passes for LCDQ Legends are available for $250. The La Cienega Design Quarter is home to Dragonette LTD, Hallworth Design and Jamal's Rug Collection and antique stores including Lee Stanton, Downtown, Scalamandre, Hollywood at Home and Connoisseur.
